Tribute to the Workers of the Land and the Biodiversity of Potatoes in Condorcocha
On October 23, 2020, Edilberto Soto, representative of the Consortium of Andean Potatoes from Peru, had the honor of receiving Pilar Flores and the TV team from the National University of San Cristóbal de Huamanga. This visit was part of a special event to commemorate and pay tribute to the men and women who, with dedication and effort, work the land in the region of Condorcocha, in Ayacucho.
During the tour, visitors had the opportunity to learn in detail about the impressive biodiversity of potatoes and other tubers grown in this area, which is characterized by its rich agricultural tradition. Thus, they were able to observe the different agricultural processes that give life to these native varieties, some of which are unknown to many.
Furthermore, the visit allowed us to highlight not only the importance of Andean agriculture, but also the deep cultural value that the native Peruvian potato has in the country's identity. These types of products not only represent history and customs, but also the connection of communities with the land.
